“I wanted to change the concept of a call centre to a fully automated site” – Meyr Aviv
Meyr Aviv, Founder & CEO of iMoving, joins the latest series of affiliate interviews on Affiliate Grand Slam
iMoving are building the first end-to-end platform for the moving industry. They connect all stakeholders in the ecosystem to deliver the best moving experience and to set new standards for the moving industry. Meyr Aviv shares his insights with us – follow his story below.
What gave you the idea to start a moving comparison website?
I was running a call centre for 20 years, and we saw the demand of people always looking to get a quote. I always wanted to create something like this, since it is not something that exists in the industry. I wanted to change the concept of a call centre to a fully automated site for customers.
Tell us a bit more about how it differs from other affiliate websites. Does the moving variable change the way you work on it?
It’s different from other websites because you can submit your own items being shipped from point A to point B and see prices for all movers around the area, including reviews, in order to make the best choice for you. We are the only ones that provide the customer with an online solution for moving without having to speak to anyone if they do not want to.
As there is the due diligence in other industries, does a similar question come up in moving?
No, by the end of the day, moving is a service. The only thing that makes it complicated is the inventory process based on items.
What helps make your performance successful? What are the main challenges?
Currently, I am the only company in the US that is offering this service, which is what makes it successful. The challenge, by the end of the day, is to keep up to date with the prices and services that you are providing to the customers, so the services always match what we offer.
What were your biggest challenges when first starting? /// What’s been your biggest nightmare to date?
The inventory process and simplifying it for the user. Biggest nightmare – When a customer is moving from an area that we have no network for, and we cannot provide service to that area.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when starting out?
That a moving platform is not something that everyone can get into. You need to have deep pockets and lots of experience in the network.
Which markets do you focus on and do you see any potential in the emerging markets?
We focus on full-service moves, auto transport, real estate market, and home services market.
Are you looking at expanding it to other countries?
Yes, I want to expand to Canada for starters, and then Europe.
How does technology play a part in your day-to-day?
It is an online platform, so technology is the basis.
Have you ever been to SiGMA? SiGMA Europe, Africa, Asia, or Americas – which of these four expo shows would you likely book on your diary for 2021, COVID-19 permitting?
No, I have never been to a SiGMA event, but am looking at possibly booking for the Asia event.
Tell us a bit about yourself – after all, business is done with people, not just companies! Your hobbies, favourite book, favourite quote, etc.
I like to work, spend time with my family, travel, run in the morning, listen to music. Last book I read: Elon Musk’s book.
There is no such thing as failing. Fall 7 times, get up 8.
