Brazilian users are testing Twitter’s DM Audio Clips
Whilst audio clips in tweets were introduced by Twitter in June, the company is now leveraging Brazilian users to test audio clips in direct messages (DMs)
The new option was showing up on Twitter, aptly named “audio messaging”. Users will be able to record and send audio clips in DMs. Further evidence pointing in this direction was spotted in Twitter’s back-end code back in August.
For now, it appears that the time restriction for audio clips in Direct Messages (DMs) will be 140 seconds, with a recording button added to the right side of the message composer bubble.
In terms of the final design, it’s not easy to say, but Twitter is getting closer to rolling out the feature in its entirety.
In addition, the option is now only being tested among Twitter users in Brazil, according to a spokesperson. To top it all off, certain superstars like Nicki Minaj have taken use of the audio tweets option and posted them as new tweets.
There’s little sign of it being a big feature, and audio tweets are becoming less common over time. Audio tweets, on the other hand, have given vision-impaired users new options to interact with Tweet content.
Recently, Twitter announced a number of efforts aimed at making tweets more accessible. Audio tweets were a major part of this reinvigorated effort. For example, they would add to this by adding audio clips in DMs, and also provide all users a creative way to interact via messaging.
